Agent Banking

Agent Banking means providing limited scale banking and financial services to the underserved population and maintains banking relationship with customers of Padma Bank PLC. through engaging the agents under a valid agency agreement. Agents are the owner of one outlet or more than one outlet who ensures banking facilities on behalf of Padma Bank PLC.

Padma Bank PLC. is working for Agent Banking activities with permission letter no: BRPD(P-3)/745(65)/2020-2561 dated 3rd March, 2020 from Bangladesh Bank.

To facilitate and secure the services of agent banking, Padma Bank PLC. is using the Agent Banking Software which enables the transactions to be real time through online. The transactions is secured by two factor authentication (2FA) by both the customer’s and the agent’s thumbprint through a biometric device. Customer is notified through a system generated printed receipt of the executed transaction and an SMS as well.

Eligible Entities:
Padma Bank PLC. may engage the following entities as Bank Agent:

  • MFIs regulated by Microcredit Regulatory Authority of Bangladesh
  • NGOs registered with Social Welfare Directorate
  • Societies registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860
  • Cooperative Societies formed and controlled/supervised under the Cooperative Society Act, 2001
  • Government offices having branch/unit offices
  • Courier and mailing service companies registered under Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications
  • Companies registered under the Companies Act, 1994
  • Agents of mobile network operators
  • Local government institutions
  • Union Digital Centre (UDC)
  • Agents of insurance companies
  • Any business entity having trade licenses from eligible authorities and
  • Any other entity which Bangladesh Bank may prescribe or authorize.

  • Cash deposit and cash withdrawal
  • Inward foreign remittance disbursement
  • Disbursement and repayment of loans
  • Collections of bills/utility bills
  • Collection of insurance premium
  • Payment of retirement and social benefits
  • Payment of salaries
  • Transfer of funds through BEFTN, RTGS
  • Balance enquiry
  • Generation and issuance of mini bank statements
  • Recovery monitoring of Loans and Advances
