The new Chairman of Padma Bank PLC Md. Shawkat Ali Khan chaired the 120th board meeting at Padma Bank's head office in Gulshan on Wednesday, December 18.

The 120th Board Meeting of Padma Bank held under the chairmanship of the new Chairman Md. Shawkat Ali Khan at Padma Bank’s head office on December 18, 2024. In the board meeting, Janata Bank’s Managing Director Md. Mazibur Rahman, Agrani Bank’s Managing Director Md. Anwarul Islam, Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) Managing Director Md. Abul Hossain and other directors Tamim Marzan Huda, Shahnul Hasan Khan, Independent Director AHM Ariful Islam FCA, Md. Rukunuzzaman (Barrister-at-Law) was present. The meeting was conducted by Padma Bank Chief Executive Officer Kazi Md. Talha (Current Charge). 

Prior to joining Padma Bank PLC, Md. Shawkat Ali Khan has joined Sonali Bank PLC as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Khan Sir also served as Managing Director of Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB). Formerly, he served as Deputy Managing Director of Rupali Bank PLC. With 26 years of banking experience, Md. Shawkat Ali Khan brings expertise across various departments, including Administration & HR, Industrial Credit, General Credit & SME, Agro and Rural Credit, Micro Credit, Foreign Trade Finance, Home Loan, Anti-Money Laundering, ICT, and Legal Affairs. His leadership roles have included serving as CAMLCO, CFO, and CRO within these departments. 

Md. Shawkat Ali Khan was awarded by the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance for his dedication, contribution, and all-out cooperation for the formulation of Govt. Employee House Building Loan (GEHBL) Policy with the collaboration of all state-owned commercial banks.

২৭ অক্টোবর ২০২৪, রোববার ব্যাংকের বকসীগঞ্জ শাখা এবং স্পেশাল ফোর্সের সহযোগিতায় সাজাপ্রাপ্ত এই আসামিকে গ্রেপ্তার করতে সক্ষম হয় স্থানীয় পুলিশ। পদ্মা ব্যাংক পিএলসির করা মামলায় জামালপুরের যুগ্ম দায়রা জজ ও জজ অর্থঋণ আদালত ২০২৩ সালের ০৮ অক্টোবর জুলহাসকে গ্রেপ্তারের আদেশ জারি করেন।

দীর্ঘ একবছর পলাতক থাকার পর গ্রেপ্তার হলেন তিনি। স্কার্ফ এগ্রো প্রাইভেট লিমিটেড এর স্বত্বাধিকারী শফিকুল ইসলামের কাছে সুদে মূলে পদ্মা ব্যাংক পিএলসির পাওনা তেইশ কোটি তিরাশি লক্ষ টাকা।
